Picking Up Boat Parts for this Weekend

Though it might seem kind of funny that I would be picking up boat parts (since I am such a mechanic after all), I am picking them up for this weekend because my brother is coming to visit.  He is bringing his boat and he will be working on both our boats so that we are ready for next weekends camping trip.

In fact, he was the one that convinced me to buy the boat in the first place.  I was always worried that I since I wouldn’t know how to fix it or maintain it that I couldn’t handle owning a boat.  But with a little coaxing, I have become quite the little boat owner.

I don’t just let him fix the boats on his own because I want to learn too, so I help out where I can.  I have learned some valuable skills this way including how to tell the difference between Mercruiser parts and Evinrude parts.  Though these sorts of skills might seem insignificant to you, it is helping me to prove that I can actually be handy and maybe someday fix my own boat.  I know that it is going to take awhile before I reach that skill level, but I can see myself making it to that point.  Who knows, someday I might teach my son how to fix his boat!

Figuring Out How to Pay Rent

One of the biggest challenges that I have faced lately is paying the bills and keeping a roof over our heads.  You see, the company that I was working for declared bankruptcy, and for the first time in my life, I found myself without a job.

For the first few days, it was nice to have some time off where I didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to make it to work on time.  But after I had some time off, I decided that I should go out and look for a job.

What I didn’t realize was that the company that I worked for wasn’t the only one to close its’ doors.  In fact, nearly 500 people lost their job within two weeks of one another, and all of us were competing for the few jobs that were available.

During this time, our savings were dwindling to the point where they are not existent right now.  Thankfully, I do have some work lined up for the end of the month, but in the meantime, we need to eat and pay rent.

I think that we will have to consider selling the gold jewelry that we own or getting rid of the vehicle.  But since I will need to drive to my new job, I guess that we will have to sell the gold jewelry that we own.  If we don’t do that, I just don’t see how we are going to pay rent.

How reliable is affordable web hosting?

When it comes to setting up your website, one of the most important aspects is just how reliable is affordable web hosting going to be? Obviously needs will vary from business to business. What is adequate for your company may be woefully inappropriate for the next. The last thing you'll want to learn about your choice in web site hosting service is that they are unable to provide continual service to keep your site up and running 24/7.

Web site hosting has come a long way since the mid 1990's when the world wide web really took off on a commercial basis. Back then, most people were unaware of what was required to run servers connected to Internet backbones. Some of the more savvy ISP's began to realize that it would be important for them to set up standards of service that would push their best web hosting offerings to the forefront and keep them there.

Some of the larger communications companies began deploying data centers costing in the hundreds of millions of dollars. These state of the art facilities began to allow affordable web hosting to not be associated with cheap, imitation knock offs. In today's marketplace, it is fairly easy to find name brand providers that will stand behind their services for your web site hosting needs.
